What to Expect
Each 45-minute class offers a blend of exercises using our high-specification Pilates Reformer, Tower and Mat equipment.
You’ll enjoy a varied workout that develops strength, improves mobility and refines your technique. Whether you’re just starting out or building on what you already know, there’s a class that’s right for you.
Beginner Group Pilates Classes
Our beginner classes are ideal for anyone starting Pilates for the first time, getting back into fitness, or looking to revisit the basics.
These sessions focus on core technique, posture and control. You’ll move at an approachable pace, and rapidly gain the skills and confidence you need to enjoy everything Pilates has to offer.
With our attentive guidance and direction supporting you at every step, we guarantee you won't be a beginner for long.
Intermediate Group Pilates Classes
For those already comfortable with the Reformer, our advanced group Pilates class provides more challenge, flow and swift progression.
Expect dynamic sequences designed to test your strength, coordination and stamina, while still maintaining the precision and technique that Pilates is known for.
These classes are perfect if you want to push yourself, refine your skills and progress towards your goals in a supportive group setting.
Mixed Group Pilates Classes
Mixed Pilates Classes bring together people at every stage of their Pilates journey.
Your instructor will guide you through exercises with options to make them easier or more challenging, so you always feel supported and pushed at the right level.
These sessions are ideal if you value variety, enjoy the motivation of a group, and like training in an inclusive environment where everyone can progress at their own pace.
Mixed Tower Classes
Our Mixed Ability Tower Classes offer a full-body workout that combines resistance training with the control and precision of Pilates.
Using springs, bars and pull straps, this class blends traditional mat work with dynamic Tower exercises to challenge your strength, balance and coordination.
This class is designed for all levels, offering options to modify or progress each exercise, so everyone can move confidently at their own pace.
Pilates Gym Sessions
Pilates Gym Sessions offer a unique way to experience the full range of specialist and Reformer Pilates equipment available at The Movement Base; equipment you won’t find anywhere else locally.
In small groups (up to 5), our Lead Instructors work with you much like a personal trainer would in a gym – guiding you on which equipment to use, how to use it, and what to focus on for your body’s needs.
Each person works towards their own goals, while still benefiting from expert one-to-one coaching in a friendly group setting.
Group Pilates Classes FAQs
Do I need to book an introductory session before joining a Pilates group?
Yes. All new clients must complete an Introductory Pilates Session before attending group or private classes.
This ensures you are confident with the equipment and moving safely, as well as helping us get to know you and your personal requirements.
How many people are in your group Pilates classes?
We keep our Pilates group sessions small, usually 6 to 8 clients, so you get to enjoy the motivation and supportiveness of a group setting without losing personal attention from your instructor.
Are group Pilates classes suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. Our instructors provide modifications for each exercise so beginners can work at their level, while more experienced clients are challenged appropriately.
You will also see that we run specific beginner, mixed and advanced classes to build confidence and offer variety.
What are the benefits of group Pilates?
Group Pilates classes provide social support, motivation, and opportunities to learn from others on the same journey as yourself.
Many find that Pilates is more fun with others around, and are inspired by others' shared energy and support.
Will I still receive personal attention in a group class?
We intentionally cap group Pilates classes at a small number so that our instructors can observe each client and give individual feedback.
We pride ourselves on offering a studio experience that feels both social and personal, where clients always feel that they are making progress and leave fulfilled.
What times are group Pilates classes available?
Our class timetable runs mornings, evenings and weekends to fit around busy schedules.
You can view and book our group Pilates classes online at any time, and we always try to work around our clients' requirements wherever possible.
See our schedule for more information, or contact us if you have any questions.
